During the already famous September event that launched the new Apple products, the American giant announced a new virtual fitness service dependent on the Apple Watch. The service is simply named Fitness+ and will be available at the end of 2020, the subscription price being $9,99$ per month.
As already rumored, Apple is forcing its way into the online fitness market with a subscription-based service that provides users with access to hundreds of video workouts performed by its own team of trainers. The app is integrated with Apple Watch and allows users to keep track of their results recorded on the watch during the workout video.
The video workout will be available in the Fitness app, dedicated to the smartwatch, and available on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.
That means that you'll be able to watch video workouts on any Apple device, and the metrics measured by the watch will also bed displayed on the video. The new service is also integrated with Apple Music, which means each workout video will have its own playlist, that can be downloaded from the music app.
The Fitness+ workouts will have various difficulty levels, and those who have never workout before will find a beginners program. Apple promises to publish new workouts daily, ranging from HIIT, Core, and Strenght to dance, Yoga, meditation, and stretching. Some workouts also include equipment, like treadmills, stationary bikes, so that you can also use these videos at your gym.
The workouts that Apple offers are between 5 minutes and 45 minutes long, and based on your history, the app will suggest similar workouts.
The subscription for this service will be $9,99 per month, but it will also be included in the Apple One Premium bundle. Those who already own an Apple Watch will get one month of free access to the Fitness+ app, and those who purchase an Apple Watch after September 15th will receive a free 3-month subscription.
During the same event, Apple showed two new Apple Watch models, the 6 Series and the SE, that include more features dedicated to sports and health, like the possibility to measure your blog oxygen with an infrared sensor and an app dedicated to handwashing, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
